Abstract

Artificial ventilation via endotracheal intubation or tracheostomy represents a main feature of neonatal intensive care. Both techniques have their benefits and complications. Post-intubational complications are mainly restricted to the subglottic area, with subglottic stenosis constituting a major proportion. In these cases, the remedy will generate a disease which outlasts the process which required intubation to begin with.
