Abstract

This bibliographic review presents, for poultry species, the main mathematical functions used to describe the growth curve : Richards, Gompertz, logistic and Janoschek functions. In a second part, methods commonly used to estimate the parameters of these curves are reported. The influence of species size, ecological factors, sex and selection are studied in a third part. Finally, the available estimations of the genetic parameters of the parameters of the growth curve are presented.
