Abstract

The basic principles of the thermomechanical control process (TMCP) are recalled. The chemical compositions, mechanical properties and weldability of TMCP structural steels, especially those with a yield strength between 355 and 500 MPa, are reviewed with a special attention given to the work produced by IIW Commission IX: "Behaviour of metals subjected to welding.".
