Abstract
Zootechnical additives are widely used in animal diets to enhance health and performance throughout different production stages. This study evaluated the effects of a blend of synbiotic and organic acids on Nile tilapia fingerlings. The investigation assessed growth performance, enzyme activity, proximate composition, and tissue histology. A total of 160 fish (initial weight: 2.22 (Formula presented.) 0.06 g) were assigned to five treatments in a randomised design with four replicates for 31 days, fed a 45% crude protein diet. The blend was incorporated into the feed via oil coating (2%) at dosages of 0.0 g kg (Formula presented.) (control), 2.50, 5.00, 7.50, and 10.0 g kg (Formula presented.). Although the blend did not affect growth performance, it modified body composition and improved physiological health indicators. Fish fed 2.50 g kg (Formula presented.) showed higher moisture and lower protein and mineral content (P (Formula presented.) 0.05). Digestive enzyme activity increased at 5.00 g kg (Formula presented.), whilst antioxidant enzymes (SOD and CAT) were enhanced at 7.50 and 10.0 g kg (Formula presented.) (P (Formula presented.) 0.05). These results suggest that higher blend levels (5.00–10.0 g kg (Formula presented.)) strengthen metabolic and antioxidant responses, highlighting the blend's potential to improve fish physiological health and support sustainable aquaculture.
