Abstract
The competitiveness of grape trade from Mexico and Peru to the international market and, specifically, to the United States was investigated because it is a growing market. Export quotas, the Revealed Comparative Advantage Index and Comparative Export Advantage were used, and the Constant Market Participation Analysis (CMS) was used. The results show that although Mexico is one of the main suppliers of food in the United States, in the grape trade it is not competitive, unlike Peru, which is increasingly positioned as an important supplier of the fruit. For future lines of research, it is recommended to carry out the study for the European and Asian markets as an alternative for expansion and growth for both countries. It was concluded that Peru has increased exports by improving the competitiveness of national viticulture, achieving greater commercial benefits.
