Abstract

A crude preparation containing the root of the fern M. orientalis was given orally to 18 cattle with fascioliasis. In 14 cattle the Fasciola egg counts were reduced to zero in 1-2 weeks and remained so for 8 weeks after treatment. In the other 4 cattle the faecal egg counts were reduced but not to zero. The faecal egg counts in 7 controls were variable during the trial. The crude preparation had no adverse effects.
