As universidades, a inserção e a aprendizagem profissionais: que lugar para a pedagogia?

Abstract

Resumo:A universidade, enquanto instituição formadora, tem preocupações profissionais desde as suas origens medievais, no sentido em que, entre as suas missões, se inclui a preparação dos alunos para o exercício de atividades profissionais. Contudo, na contemporaneidade, essas preocupações têm sido objeto de uma atenção e preocupação crescentes no quadro das políticas educativas, bem como por parte dos académicos e da sociedade em geral, veiculando frequentemente a ideia de que importa repensar o ensino superior numa lógica de resposta a necessidades (quantitativas e qualitativas) da economia e do mercado de trabalho. O objetivo deste artigo é enriquecer a reflexividade sobre este tipo de posicionamentos e sobre as respectivas implicações no campo da pedagogia universitária. Procura-se, deste modo, identificar tensões e desafios subjacentes aos modos de funcionamento e aos modelos curriculares e pedagógicos das universidades na atualidade, reforçando a importância de favorecer uma perspetiva educativa sobre a pedagogia universitária que não a subordine às supostas necessidades do mercado de trabalho.Abstract:The universities as training institutions have professional concerns since their medieval origins, given that among their missions it is included the preparation of students to perform professional activities. However, in contemporary times such concerns have been the object of increasing attention and apprehension both in the context of educational policies, as well as for academics and the society as a whole. This situation often conveys the idea that here is the need to rethink higher education following the logic of responding to both quantitative and qualitative needs of the economy and the labour market. The aim of this paper is to enrich the reflexivity about this type of understandings and on their implications in the field of university pedagogy. Thus, the paper's underlying attempt is to identify tensions and challenges within the modes of operation and the curricular and pedagogical models in universities nowadays, reinforcing the importance of fostering an educational perspective on university pedagogy not controlled by the alleged needs of the labour market.
