Abstract

The notion 〈theory of mind〉 has witnessed an evolution and transformation as a function of the progressive acknowledgement of intersubjective and relational processes in cognitive neuroscience. The initial modularist approach has been replaced by the physiopathology of empathy and of negempathy. We will discuss the implications of this new direction of research for psychopathology, in particular for the clinical understanding of psychoses and more globally, of the nature of mechanisms of representation of the self and of others.
