Abstract

Taking advantage of the structural diversity of different biomass resources, recent efforts were directed toward the synthesis of renewable monomers and polymers, either for complementary use of petroleum-based resources or for the design of novel polymers. The valorization of biosourced monomers and biopolymers and their application conducted by African researchers are reviewed in this manuscript. Biopolymers such as cellulose, chitosan, and pectin are highlighted in the application section. In the biosourced monomers section, we discussed 1,4:3,6-dianhydrohexitols as well as furfuryl-based modified platforms and their uses.
