Abstract
In physical education, many instructors are still taboo when it comes to the language of sports education. This becomes an irony in the domestic education world, where instructors should understand the meaning behind physical education, thus there are terms that can differentiate them. The term "physical literacy," which originates from English, refers to being literate in physical activities or understanding physical literacy and physical education are closely related. Therefore, this research aims to investigate the role of physical literacy among elementary school students. This research employs a descriptive quantitative approach by distributing questionnaires to 46 students from SDN 1 Karangsambung Kota Tasikmalaya. The sampling method used is saturated sampling, and the data is analyzed using SPSS 26.0 application. The results show that the sampled students have above-average knowledge based on indicators of physical literacy knowledge. With these results, it is expected that teachers will provide positive stimulation to students by modifying teaching methods to be more interesting or diverse so that students are more enthusiastic about participating in physical education. Physical activities in real life and academic environments are, in fact, continuous. Furthermore, there is a slight difference in physical literacy knowledge between male and female students, which is influenced by the fact that male students engage in physical activities more frequently compared to female students.
