Abstract

A new mode of quantum two-stream instability has been investigated in a relativistically degenerate dense magnetized plasma. Such plasmas are often found in dense astrophysical bodies like white dwarfs, neutron stars, etc. where the particle density ranges from 1028 m-3 to 1032 m-3. We consider the particles to stream in the direction of the magnetic field. The fluctuations of the magnetic field are in the transverse direction. We further consider the small-amplitude wave perturbations in a direction perpendicular to both the magnetic field and the magnetic fluctuation. We study the effects of Bohm term as well as magnetic field, streaming speed, and particle density on the stability criteria of such waves. The results have potential applications in Astro-plasma physics and Laser plasma physics.
