Occurrence of zaprionus indianus Gupta (Diptera: Drosophilidae) in "juazeiro" fruits ziziphus joazeiro mart. (Rhamnaceae) in the state of rio grande do norte, Brazil

Abstract

This study, describe for the first time the occurrence of Zaprionus indianus Gupta, 1970 in "juazeiro" fruits (Ziziphus joazeiro) in Mossoró, state of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. It was collected fruits in "juazeiro" trees planted in the Universidade Federal Rural do Semi-Árido (UFERSA) in Mossoró - RN. The fruits collected were taken to the Laboratory of Applied Entomology of the UFERSA, weighed and packaged in plastic containers with vermiculite and covered with voile fabric. A total of 188 specimens of this flies was obtained from 932 puparium collected from the fruits.
