Abstract

Basil leaves (Ocimum tenuiflorum L.) contain flavonoids and polyphenols which are efficient as antioxidants. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of transdermal gel preparations as an anti-wrinkle from the ethanol extract of basil leaves with extract concentrations of 5% (F1), 7.5% (F2), and 10% (F3) based on the best penetration results from the Franz diffusion test. The extraction process of basil left by using the maceration method uses 96% ethanol. The antioxidant activity test of the extract showed an IC50 value of 71.0436 ppm. The gel formulation of basil leaves ethanol extract was evaluated, including organoleptic, pH, homogeneity, viscosity, dispersion, and cycling. The results of the preparation evaluation were founded the requirements Percentage of ethanol extract of basil left penetrated through the membrane for 120 minutes from the formula I, formula II, formula III was obtained at 22.149%, 30.013%, 30.332%. The antioxidant activity of formula 3 showed an IC50 value of 77.6187 ppm. ABSTRAK Daun kemangi (Ocimum tenuiflorum L.) mengandung senyawa flavonoid dan polifenol yang berkhasiat sebagai antioksidan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antioksidan dan efektivitas sediaan gel transdermal sebagai anti kerut dari ekstrak etanol daun kemangi dengan konsentrasi ekstrak 5%(F1), 7,5%(F2) dan 10%(F3) berdasarkan hasil penetrasi terbaik dari uji difusi franz. Proses ekstraksi daun kemangi dengan metode maserasi menggunakan pelarut etanol 96%. Uji aktivitas antioksidan ekstrak menunjukkan nilai IC50 sebesar 71,0436 ppm. Formulasi gel ekstrak etanol daun kemangi dilakukan evaluasi meliputi organoleptik, pH, homogenitas, viskositas, daya sebar, dan cycling test. Hasil evaluasi sediaan telah memenuhi persyaratan. Persentase ekstrak etanol daun kemangi yang terpenetrasi melalui membran selama 120 menit dari formula I, formula II, formula III diperoleh sebesar 22,149%, 30,013%, 30,332%. Uji aktivitas antioksidan formula 3 menunjukkan nilai IC50 sebesar 77,6187 ppm. Kata kunci : daun kemangi, antioksidan, anti kerut, difusi franz, dermatoscopy
