Exploring Nursing Students’ Perceptions of Using Video-Assisted In Basic Nursing Skills Teaching And Learning: A Qualitative Study

Abstract

This study explored nursing students’ perceptions of using video-assisted in basic nursing skills teaching and learning. This study utilized a descriptive qualitative analysis approach. Twenty-five nursing students were selected through purposive sampling. The primary data collection method was semi-structured interviews. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis. Three main themes emerged from the thematic data analysis: 1) students’ experiences of video-assisted basic nursing skills, 2) the benefits of video-assisted teaching, and 3) barriers to video-assisted teaching and learning. Video has the potential to enhance the development of skills and facilitate the integration of technology into the nursing curriculum. The study indicated that students prefer video-assisted learning while acquiring new fundamental abilities. Participants in this study indicated that video-assisted learning enhanced their learning process and their level of preparedness. The findings can be utilized when developing and incorporating video-assisted nursing skills into psychomotor-based education.
