Discusses forest clearance and presents estimates of clearance in Central America (1940-1982) and S/SE Asia (1880-1980) (including maps of these world regions). Table of conversion of forest to cropping for world regions for pre-1649; 1650-1749; 1750-1849; 1850-1978 are provided. There are also world maps of fuelwood deficit; reafforestation and deforestation. -C.J.Barrow
