Abstract

Both white and yellow bacteria were isolated from the same leaf or gum exudates of blighted local cassava in Port Harcourt, Nigeria From pathogenicity and biochemical studies, the two were identified asXanthomonas manihotis or Xanthomonas campestris pv. manihotis andXanthomonas cassavae respectively. This is the first record in Nigeria of the co-existence of the two strains in the same leaf spot 9r gum exudate of blighted local cassava in Port Harcourt, Nigeria.
