Abstract

The Fur Formation is erected as a formal lithostratigraphical unit. It is a marine diatomite with numerous layers of volcanic ash, and has previously been referred to as 'Moler' or the 'Mo-clay Formation'. The sedimentary facies, ichnocoenoses and areal distribution of the formation are described as the basis for an interpretation of the depositional environment.-from Authors
