Abstract

We analyze in this paper the fundamental aspects of the theoretical evolution that the interpretation of Marx's work has undergone from the first currents of thought derived from it to the most recent ones. First we deal with traditional Marxism, its deterministic conception of historical materialism and its historicist interpretation of the theory of value. Then we consider the currents of Western Marxism opposed to the reductionist and economistic conceptions of prevailing Marxist interpretation, and finally we focus on the most recent interpretations of Marxian social theory as a critique of the fetishistic character of the bourgeois consciousness forms and the categories of political economy.
