Abstract

Childhood obesity is a major concern in global public health. This study uses the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach to analyse the role of physical education in addressing childhood obesity. A total of 45 articles from 222 sources have been filtered based on PRISMA criteria. Four main themes were identified: the effectiveness of interventions, physical activity in various populations, health outcomes and physical activity metrics, and innovations in physical activity research. The findings showed that a well-planned physical education programme was able to increase physical activity and reduce body mass index (BMI). This article recommends a holistic approach involving parents, schools, and policymakers for better effectiveness.
