Abstract

-The objectives of the present research is to appreciate the effect of %Na 2 O and %SiO 2 on apparent porosity and sorptivity of fly ash based geopolymer mortar . No simple direct relationship between compressive strength and sorptivity could be established. However, generally there is decrease in water sorptivity and water absorption with increase in strength Locally available low calcium fly ash from a thermal power plant located near Kolkata, India, was used . Fly ash used are lignite coal based and falls under class F category. This study helped arrive at certain level of understanding which will be useful to the researchers and manufacturers.
