Abstract

The article discusses the relations between State and cinema in the context of the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of Brazilian independence, which began with the International Centenary Expo that took place between 1922 and 1923 in the city of Rio de Janeiro, and considers the place that this new media occupied in the strategy of building an image of the country for the international community.
