The Transformation of Malaysian Women's Work Culture: Navigating Work-From-Home Challenges and Solutions in the Post-Pandemic Era

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has drastically changed the working style of working women from the traditional style to working flexibly. They have also been affected by the stress and various life challenges, such as balancing work and family responsibilities, managing emotions, lack of facilities, as well as limited space and support. This article discusses several solutions to address these challenges through an approach management the life skills of working women, and the need for support to help women working from home to maintain their productivity and well-being. In this qualitative study, 12 women who worked from home (WFH) during the COVID-19 pandemic were selected to be interviewed online. The findings of the interviews were analysed according to themes using the ATLAS.ti software, version 2023. The findings of the study showed that several challenge and solutions are available from the aspect of women could implement based on themselves, spirituality, psychological and supportive work environment. This finding has proven that various methods could be used by women facing the challenges of working from home (WFH) to manage their lives to control stress during the pandemic.
