Abstract

emory is the most essentialcognitiveprocess.For the largestpart of this century, the neurologist categorizedmemory in psychologt and phylosophy domains. Beginning in the last two decades,the neuroscientistsacquired better insight about the relation betweencognitiveprocess and the structure of brain anatomy. However, phycological study on assessmentsof human brain activity during the memoryprocess have not beendone extensively.This report is a review on how the activity can be monitored/detected. Memory is usually startedwith sensoryimpuls. Beginningwithin the sensoryreceptor, impuls will enter the memory circuit corrsistedof limbic system,diencephalon,basalforebrain cholinergic, cerebral cortex, and cerebelum.Impuls transmissionand memorystorage of short-term memory takeplace through limbic systentwhile non-cognitive memorydoes not take place through this system.All of this processesinvolve the bioelectric activities that characterizethe neuron activities. Thusthefactor afected lhe neurotransmitterwork as well as neuron activity would also affect the memoryprocesses.Bioelectric activily that happenedduring short-term memoryprocess would bring about a potentialfluctuation on the body surface. Suchfluchtation may oftenly be tapped on the scalp surface, among others by electroencephalography.The result can be expectedto be good parameters for monitoring/detectingthe short-term memoryprocess in human. By comprehendingthe mattersrelated to short-term memoryprocess, it is expectedtltatfurther study can beperformed on (a)factors that affected nrcmory, (b)factors that would disturbed memory,and (c) attempsto tmprove memory
