Abstract
While new product introductions have traditionally been regarded as the primary drivers of competitive advantage, operational process innovation is gaining more importance as a key driver of success in the marketplace. The ability to manage disruptive marketplace changes while focusing on operational excellence is being recognized as the key enabler of future success. Companies are shifting towards process-centric management in order to adjust to continuous changes in business requirements. Process innovation has become one of the most relevant drivers for business change projects, especially in the business process management field. Enterprises are trying to develop a process-centric organizational approach as they strive to improve their performance by implementing both radical and incremental innovations. The chapter explains business processes and business process management and offers practical tools for process innovation along with insights into key enablers for successful implementation.
