Abstract

Abstrak Infeksi bakteri, jamur maupun virus dapat terjadi pada seorang penderita diabetes melitus.Penderita dengan metabolisme yang buruk lebih rentan terhadap infeksi bakteri yang berulang. Kerusakan gigi dapat terjadi pada penderita diabetes melitus sebab adanya peningkatan kadar glukosa dalam cairan salivanya, terkhusus pada penderita yang tidak memperhatikan kebersihan gigi dan mulut sehingga memicu pola bakteri. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat gambaran pertumbuhan Streptococcus spp. pada mulut penderita diabetes melitus di kota Makassar. Jenis penelitian deskriptif, dengan melakukan observasi langsung secara laboratorium.Teknik pengambilan sampel secara Consecutive Sampling, dan didapatkan 24 sampel penelitian yang diambil dari 3 Rumah Sakit di Kota Makassar.Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada Mei-Juni tahun 2022 di Laboratorium Mikrobiologi Teknologi Laboratorium Medis PoltekkesKemenkes Makassar. Hasil penelitian bahwa sesuai usia penderita DM dari 24 sampel terdapat usia 55-77 tahun 66,67% lebih banyak dari 38-54 tahun sebesar 33,33%. Jenis kelamin diperoleh 10 orang (41,67%) laki-laki dan 12 orang (50%) perempuan. Hasil pemeriksaan 15 sampel teridentifikasi Streptococcus spp., 2 sampel teridentifikasi Pseudomonas spp., dan 7 sampel teridentifikasi Enterobacter spp. Disimpulkan terdapat pertumbuhan Streptococcus spppada mulut penderita diabetes melitus. Abstract Bacterial, fungal or viral infections can occur in a person with diabetes mellitus. Patients with poor metabolism are more susceptible to recurrent bacterial infections. Tooth decay can occur in people with diabetes mellitus due to an increase in glucose levels in their salivary fluid, especially in patients who do not pay attention to dental and oral hygiene so that it triggers a pattern of bacteria. The purpose of this study was to see the description of the growth of Streptococcus spp. in the mouth of people with diabetes mellitus in the city of Makassar. This type of research is descriptive, by direct observation in the laboratory. The sampling technique was Consecutive Sampling, and obtained 24 research samples taken from 3 Hospitals in Makassar City. This research was conducted in May-June 2022 at the Laboratory of Microbiology Technology Medical Laboratory of the Ministry of Health Makassar Polytechnic. The results showed that according to the age of DM sufferers from 24 samples there were ages 55-77 years 66.67% more than 38-54 years of 33.33%. Gender obtained 10 people (41.67%) male and 12 people (50%) female. The results of the examination of 15 samples identified Streptococcus spp., 2 samples identified Pseudomonas spp., and 7 samples identified Enterobacter spp. It was concluded that there is growth of Streptococcus spp in the mouth of people with diabetes mellitus.
