Abstract

The article presents the investigation of Lap-Chee Tsui and Francis Collins on the cause of cystic fibrosis who reached the cystic-fibrosis transmembrane regulator gene (CFTR) that looked from its sequence in transporting ions through cell membranes. It notes that many researchers agree on a hypothesis to explain how mutations in the gene cause the CFTR. Tsui's and Collin's co-researcher Jack Riordan found out that the disease contributed much more to science than science has contributed to the disease. It points out that CFTR sequence reveals the position at which three base pairs are commonly deleted.
