Abstract

The present study is an integrative review of qualitative aspects. The purpose of this study was to verify the use of non-pharmacological measures to reduce pain in normal labor in women. Also, to identify the role of the nurse in the face of the integral assistance provided to the parturient. The search for publications took place in the following databases: SCIELO, Google Academic and in the database grouper BVS and PUBMED with selection between 2012 to 2018. Fourteen articles that met the inclusion criteria were evaluated. In the studies were analyzed measures such as the use of the Swiss ball, ambulation, shower or immersion bath, music therapy, massage in the cervix-sacral region, acupuncture, cryotherapy and respiratory relaxation. It was concluded that such relief measures, besides providing benefits at the time of delivery, reduce pain perception and reduce levels of anxiety and stress, contributing to the evolution of labor, and the role of nurses to provide this assistance to low-risk childbirth. Keysword: labor, obstetric, labor pain e obstetric nursing.
