Abstract

Since the 19th century, the application areas of bronchoscopic procedures have undergone significant expansion. Initially limited to rigid bronchoscopy, the increasing need for access to distal airways, the expanding diagnostic capabilities, and the integration of digital add-ons have necessitated the development of new devices. In addition to its diagnostic utility, bronchoscopy now offers simultaneous treatment options, rendering it an indispensable approach in medical practice. The procedure finds indications in various fields, notably in cases of foreign body aspirations. Emergency bronchoscopic interventions play a vital role in saving lives and have become more readily accessible thanks to advancing technology. In light of recent developments, it is anticipated that emergency bronchoscopy will find broader application in diagnosing and treating a wider range of diseases in the future.
