Abstract

A new series of phenytoin derivatives 4 a-j have been designed via one-pot three component reaction of aryl aldehyde derivatives 1 a-j with thiosemicarbazide (2) and benzil (3) in presence of sodium alkoxide. The structure of new target phenytoin derivatives 4 a-j was assigned on the basis of elemental and spectral data. The newly synthesized products have been screened and studied as anti-inflammatory effectiveness compared to ibuprofen as a reference drug. It has been found that is compounds 4 b, 4 d, 4 h, 4 f and 4 j exhibit excellent anti-inflammatory properties compere to ibuprofen.
