Abstract

In summary, we identified a potential for improvement of glycaemic control, also among the many poorly controlled patients, primarily by prescribing combinations of oral drugs and/or insulin. The large number of poorly controlled diabetic patients, their young age and the high prevalence of symptoms and complications among them are further arguments for improving the treatment of these high-risk patients. Our results indicate that GPs need to pay more attention to their poorly controlled type 2 diabetic patients.
