Nitric Oxide Biology and the Liver: Report of an AASLD Research Workshop

Abstract

Recognition of the importance of NO led to the awarding of the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 1998 to the codiscoverers of NO. Not only has the importance of NO been broadly recognized, but the explosion of work over the past decade focusing on the liver emphasizes the critical role that NO plays in liver biology. NO is particularly critical in the areas of injury and hepatotoxicity as well as in regulation of blood flow.
