Abstract

Mengqiu Cao, Yongping Zhang, Yuerong Zhang, Shengxiao Li and Robin Hickman apply different social equity measures, including the Capability Approach, Gini coefficient, Atkinson index, Palma ratio, Pietra ratio, Schutz coefficient and Theil index, in relation to transport and social equity in the neighbourhood of Tuqiao, Beijing. This is a migrant-rich, low income neighbourhood, adjacent to the East Sixth Ring Road and Batong Subway Line One extension. Gender, age, hukou, incumbent population, personal income and car ownership are related to travel and travel experience.
