Abstract

Em-like proteins are present in dry seeds of several species playing a role in the desiccation tolerance of the embryo. A novel Em gene (BnEm6) of Brassica napus was identified using a PCR-walking method. BnEm6 shares high amino acid sequence identity with other known Em proteins and a similar pattern of expression.
