Abstract

Information technology based on digital computer systems will form the backbone of society and various industries in the 21st century. This information infrastructure will transcend geographic and cultural boundaries and will also play an important role in education. Although it cannot replace teachers as role models, mentors or motivators, information technology will provide students with a powerful tool for acquiring knowledge and communicating with each other.
