Abstract
This paper provides a comprehensive review of the use of synthetic aperture radar for oceanographic applications. It summarizes the current state of the art, covering research and operational aspects of the various applications: ocean wave imaging, solitary waves, ocean currents, sea floor topography, oil spill detection, ship and wake detection, wind speed and direction as well as other wind related phenomena.
