Abstract

Inonotus hemmesii is described as a new species causing a white heartrot of living hardwoods in the Hawaiian Islands. It is characterized by large pileate basidiocarps, frequent setal hyphae in the tube trama, rare hymenial setae, and pigmented, ovoid to ellipsoid basidiospores.
