Abstract

Broiler transportation is an important factor in poultry industry. Transportation duration can affect oxidative stress, physiological, and broiler's performance. Transportation process from loading to unloading is a critical point. This study aims to evaluate effects of different transportation durations on physiological responses and performance of broilers. There were two durations treatment in this study, namely short (30 mins) and long (180 mins). Traits measured in this study were physiological responses heterophile-lymphocytes (HL) ratio and weight loss percentage. The result showed that transportation duration significantly affects on weight loss. Long transportation duration resulted in higher weight loss (0.065±0.034 gram). It can be concluded long-duration transportation decreased HL ratio and affected performance indicators.
