Abstract

Five new injection molding techniques will help improve the performance and appearance of parts molded in reinforced thermoplastics. These are: Co-injection molding; gas-assisted injection molding; fusible core molding; multiple line feed molding; and push-pull molding. These techniques will allow plastics to compete with metals. Plastics can reduce manufacturing costs by eliminating the metalizint and painting operations. Many complex metal parts will be replaced by unconventional plastic molded parts.
