Abstract

The article reports on creating a web service. The example of Web-service will provide the ability to search library database and retrieve results. Two types of messages are operated in the Web-service discussed in this chapter, this design is called a synchronous service. The step-by-step process for searching and retrieving results from database of libraries are enumerated. The most complex part of the programming project is to create a Perl module that implements the service. Web service performs a simple task of searching a database and delivering a result, it can be accomplished without too much effort.
