A workforce scheduling problem to schedule the minimum number of workers to perform a set of physical tasks such that their daily energy capacities are not exceeded is discussed. Firstly, a mathematical model is formulated. Two heuristics and one exact algorithm are then explained. Based on our computational experiment, a hybrid procedure consisting of the above mentioned algorithms is found to be very efficient in solving this workforce scheduling problem to optimality.
