An Overview on 3d Metal Printing Technology in Automobile Industry

Abstract

3D printing has reshaped the automobile industry in many ways, one such form of 3d printing is 3d metal printing technology which has created immense opportunity in automobile sector. Reduction in weight, making components lighter and stronger with decrease in cost which in turn has led to reduction in CO2 and consumption of fuel. 3d metal printing technology is quite new unlike the traditional method which are very old and has influenced the automobile sector in every step. 3d metal printing only deals with metal components only. This paper gives an overview of 3D metal printing technology, techniques used along with the application in automotive industry.
