Abstract
Production of oilseeds for food and industrial applications has been reviewed with particular reference to India. The involuntary sources of oil supply, such as oilseeds of forest origin and by-product oils have been studied. The simple procedures for collection, processing and utilization of the oilseeds and oils and their socio-economic importance are highlighted.
