Abstract

In this chapter, the arts manager is not projected as an artiste’s agent, impresario or promoter. The arts manager that this chapter represents does not depend for remuneration on the percentage of earnings of the performing artiste, neither do they nurture a personal agenda, neither do they exhibit a personality preference, but they work for the larger interest of the arts per se. Are there many such people? No. Unfortunately, there are very few opportunities to encounter such a person, because if the practice of arts is commercially challenging, being an arts manager is more so. Why then do the arts managers pursue this line? Because they have a passion for the arts and see their role as satisfying because they live with the arts and experience a sense of joy in serving the arts!
