Abstract
Polarization and slowness component measurements can be inverted to yield realistic anisotropy estimates. Such a technique will be most useful where conventional slowness curves cannot be constructed because of structural complexities in the overburden. Although the slowness component along the receiver array and the polarizations are local wavefield measurements, they will require reliable measurement which may be difficult in such complex heterogeneous regions.
