Abstract

Summary: A study of ethanol 8 per cent (w/v) with methohexitone or diazepam, in eighty patients, shows the limitations of such combinations for induction of anaesthesia. Emergence delirium was marked following the ethanol-methohexitone combination, and though the incidence was reduced with diazepam it was still clinically unacceptable. Recovery time was prolonged when diazepam was used. © 1970 John Sherratt and Son Ltd.
