Abstract

Partial to particular particles: The morphology of the polymer particles can be controlled in ethylene/CO copolymerization by pressurizing catalyst-containing 1-octanol droplets dispersed in water. The palladium catalyst should be harnessed with lipophilic long alkyl chains. Polymer particles of 0.5-1.0 mm size (see micrographs) with bulk densities of 0.2-0.3 g mL-1 are produced without reactor fouling. © 2011 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim.
