Abstract
The demands of students' abilities in mathematics are not only to count, but the ability to reason logically and critically in problem solving is not only a problem in the form of a routine problem, but rather a problem faced daily. Such mathematical abilities are known as mathematical literacy. The mathematical literacy abilities of Indonesian students are still low, which is ranked 65th out of 72 countries. Some factors that affect mathematical literacy skills include the ability to comprehension of reading content, and the intensity of gadget use. In this study, quantitative research with expost facto method was used. Data is collected by survey method. The population is junior high school students in Serang City. Sampling using random sampling. The instruments used are written tests, questionnaires, and interviews. Research variables were analyzed using Path Analysis. The result of this study was that 80.68% of the intensity of student gadget use was included in the high category, with an average usage of 6.49 hours / day. the correlation between the reading content comprehension variable and the intensity of gadget use is-0.476. This correlation means that the relationship between the independent variables of reading content comprehension and the intensity of gadget use is negatively correlated. This means that if the variable Intensity of gadget use is high then the comprehension of the content of the reading becomes low and vice versa. the intensity of gadget use negatively affects by-18.8% and the ability to read comprehension by 25.7%; to the literacy ability of students.
