Abstract
Medical record practitioners, especially those employed in supervisory or managerial capacities, are often responsible for evaluating the performance of their subordinates. To fulfill this professional responsibility well necessitates that they learn as much as possible about the appraisal process, comparing different techniques and modifying these to fit the needs and requirements of their own institutions. This paper contrasts and compares the performance appraisal systems used in the Medical Record Departments of two large hospitals; medical record practitioners can utilize these descriptions in improving their own appraisal programs.
