Abstract

The thrust force characteristics of the oil hydraulic poppet valve accompanied by cavitation were studied experimentally. Changing the three valve factors, the valve lift X, the chamfer length of the valve seat S and the poppet angle 20, the thrust force was measured with two apparatus of the full shaped model and the half cut model of a poppet valve. Comparison of the thrust coefficients made clear the influence of change of the three valve factors on the thrust characteristics. And the mechanism that the influence appeared was made clear by measuring the pressure distribution along the poppet surface in detail using the half cut model and studying the components of the thrust force in three parts of the upper-stream side, the metering restriction part and the down-stream side. © 1985, The Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers.
