Abstract
Digital leadership represents a paradigm shift in organizational management, characterized by the strategic integration of emerging technologies, innovative thinking, and adaptive management practices to drive organizational transformation in the digital economy (Chanias et al., 2019; Nadkarni & Prügl, 2021). This systematic literature review synthesizes findings from 50 peer-reviewed scholarly articles and academic journals published between 2000 and 2025 to comprehensively examine digital leadership's definition, key competencies, organizational impacts, implementation challenges, and future research directions. The findings reveal that digital leadership encompasses nine critical dimensions: strategic vision, technological literacy, change management expertise, data-driven decision-making, innovation fostering, agility, collaboration, ethical governance, and continuous learning (Oberer & Erkollar, 2018; Schwarzmüller et al., 2018). Digital leadership demonstrates significant positive effects on organizational performance, digital culture, innovation capability, and employee engagement (Abbas et al., 2024; Mardiana, 2020). However, organizations face substantial barriers in implementing digital leadership, including competency gaps, resistance to change, inadequate financial resources, and ethical concerns surrounding artificial intelligence governance (Gupta, 2021; Fletcher & Griffiths, 2020). This review contributes to advancing theoretical understanding of digital leadership while providing practical implications for organizational leaders seeking to navigate the complexities of digital transformation. Future research should explore the intersections of digital leadership with emerging technologies, long-term sustainability of digital transformation initiatives, and context-specific applications across diverse industry sectors
